How to Use a Manual Edger on Your Lawn
Step 1 Grasp the Tool Firmly with Both Hands
Begin by firmly grasping the manual edger, similar to how you would hold a push broom. You will have to work the tool back and forth to cut through the grass and create a trench between the pavement and the lawn.
PRO TIP
Step 2 Push the Tool Back and Forth
Push the tool back and forth along the edge of the sidewalk or driveway. Some force is necessary to cut through the built-up grass and dirt along the edge.
Step 3 Edge Your Lawn Again in Two Weeks
It will get progressively easier to edge the more times you do it. After edging a few times, a small trench will form in the dirt that makes it easier to push the edger tool along.
